Butta B Rocka Biography
Seasoned singer, songwriter, vocal producer/arranger, dancer, entertainer and entrepreneur, Oleathia “Butta B-Rocka” Robinson has been diligently putting in work across markets and borders. Butta has redefined the term “versatility” by showcasing her vocals and composed pieces for ears in the US, UK, Germany, Holland, Japan, Portugal, Africa and across genres from pop, rock, gospel, country and rap. Between her background vocals, demo recordings, and stage performances her résumé boasts work and assistance with international superstars, Grammy winners and performers like Janet Jackson, Akon, TLC, Nas, rock group Collective Soul, country singer Zac Brown, Japanese star Namie Amuro, Belgium superstar Sandrine, German Artist Vanessa Jean Dedmon and countless other talents across the globe.
A Kentucky native, Butta B-Rocka began her musical journey from a very young age when she started performing in school plays and trumping talent shows around Florida and Georgia. After moving to Atlanta, GA as a teenager, she attended Chattahoochee Technical College. Not long after the self-taught songwriter/composer decided to set aside her computer science training in order to put music at the forefront of her life’s work.
As fate would have it, a car accident rendered her hospitalized for several weeks and out of commission for nearly two years. Butta’s career came to an abrupt standstill. However, armed with a passion and desire to succeed, she quickly found her way back to her true passion and aligned herself with some of the top people in the entertainment business. She soon became the “go to” person for recording vocal demos for projects from international stars like TLC and Akon. Butta also began working with producers signed to Dallas Austin’s label and collaborated with Little Zane on his single “None Tonight” off his album, Young World, The Future. This strong beginning lead to a flourishing career and increased work on an international scale in songwriting and performance vocals.
Growing stronger and more confident in her capabilities as a musician, Butta started work on her own material. Early in 2010 she released her independently produced debut album, Switch Lanes. Her sound has often been described as a cross between Rhianna and Pink with a hint of Keri Hilson. Switch Lanes represents a world where “music is music and you can’t put it into a box” explains Butta. She drew from her international experience and repertoire to create an album that “is universal in its pop offerings and crosses genres with ease providing catchy hooks and strong vocal arrangements” She continues. Switch Lanes reflects a soaring collection of funk, pop, hip-hop and rock music. The intricately produced album captures Butta’s alluring presence and incredible vocal range.
Today, Butta tours weekly with her band. Each event is size customized in details to the specific needs of each client. Her shows have a winning combination of classic oldies, today's top 40's, sprinkled with some of her original material. They perform at 5-Star hotels, corporate functions, conventions, weddings, clubs, special events and colleges. Butta continues to raise the bar! In November 'Atlanta's Hottest Entertainment Awards' named her "Atlanta's Hottest Future Superstar" for the second year in a row. With hard work, determination and her unique style, Butta will unquestionably leave a lasting legacy on the music industry worldwide.
